Objective

To bring together developers, domain experts and e-health experts around open source health care applications.

Background

Health information systems are complex and are relatively expensive to implement. By using FOSS, health facilities can lower the cost of implementation, but at the same time, preserve flexibility and customization which allow for a more cost-effective incremental approach. FOSS in health information systems may have more chances of succeeding in ASEAN and developing countries than in developed countries.
